Trust & safety
You’re letting a stranger into your house
We take that seriously enough to explain exactly what we check, how often, and what happens when something goes wrong.
Before a company can take a single job
State contractor licence
Verified against the issuing authority for every jurisdiction they want jobs in. A company licensed in Maryland doesn’t get sent to a DC address.
Liability insurance
A current certificate on file, minimum $1,000,000, with the expiry date tracked. If it lapses, they stop receiving jobs that day.
EPA 608 certification
Required by federal law for anyone handling refrigerant. We check it per technician, not per company, and track each one’s expiry.
Background checks
On every technician who enters a customer’s home, re-run annually rather than once at signup.
The part most platforms skip
Checking once at signup is worthless
Certificates expire. Licences lapse. A company vetted two years ago tells you nothing about today. So we hold every document with its expiry date and chase renewals ourselves.
- 01We remind the company at 30, 14, 7 and 1 days before anything expires
- 02If a licence or insurance certificate lapses, jobs stop routing to them automatically — not after someone notices
- 03Ratings are tied to completed jobs only, so nobody can pad a profile with reviews that never happened
When something goes wrong
The repair didn’t hold
Work is warranted by the company that did it, for 12 months. Report it in the app and the return visit carries no diagnostic fee.
Something was damaged
Report it within 7 days. The company’s liability insurance is what covers property damage, and we’ll help you make the claim.
Pending legal review — decision D4.
The bill looks wrong
Your invoice has to match the estimate you approved. If it doesn’t, raise it in the app and we’ll hold the charge while we look.
Something urgent, or someone made you feel unsafe? Call any hour. A person answers.
